Church View Wood

An 11.47 ha Tender Scheme winner 2001 on the outskirts of Swepstone, predominantly planted with commercial poplar along with some native broadleaves.  The woodland has been designed to maximise the views to nearby Swepstone Church.  A neglected field pond has been restored and a new one created to provide habitat for ruddy darter dragonflies, while bat boxes have been installed on mature trees on the boundary hedgerow.  An avenue of rare native black poplars extends from the pool to frame the view to the church.
