Frankies

A 6.5ha Tender Scheme winner from 2000, Frankies is sandwiched between the A38, the Trent & Mersey Canal and the River Trent.  In its floodplain location, the woodland is planted predominantly with a variety of species of willow, with some native black poplar.

Large areas of wet grassland have been left to help flood relief and to provide hunting territory for owls and other birds of prey.  An otter holt has been constructed in the river in an attempt to encourage breeding. There are signs that otters are passing through the area and, by appropriate habitat management, such as holt building, it is hoped that they will stay in the area and breed.

Please note: Access is from the A38 footpath only.
