Grace Dieu Wood

A 1995 Tender Scheme success for North West Leicestershire District Council on the edge of Thringstone, this 3.7ha site is adjacent to existing Grace Dieu Wood. Formerly an arable field, the site creates a natural extension to Grace Dieu ancient woodland.  Sycamore regeneration from Grace Dieu is being removed to allow the planted native species and self seeded native trees from the wood to grow on.

The rock feature on site consists of three different types of rock found in the area - magnesium limestone, Leicestershire granite and sandstone.

Grace Dieu Priory, which is being managed as a visitor attraction at the gateway to the Forest, lies just to the north.

A schools leaflet is available from NWLDC.
