Lockharts Wood

A 15ha woodland near Overseal combining colourful planting and specialist species.  The planting consists mainly of oak and ash for future timber production but colourful feature trees such as red and scarlet oak, wild service tree and tulip trees are included to give colour and variety.

Wet woodland and ponds and scrapes provide additional habitats for aquatic species like the ruddy darter dragonfly. The Hooborough Brook alongside feeds into the River Mease and so it is hoped that otters and water voles may come upstream to the new wetand areas.
