Manor Farm, Bagworth

A 7.4ha site in Bagworth, which is owned by Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council and is a focus for community events and involvement.  The site consists mainly of rough grassland sloping steeply down to a recently enlarged pond at its northern boundary.  The pond is fenced off to prevent damage by cattle and a boardwalk allows easy access for pond dipping.  Mining subsidence has resulted in a series of damp hollows and flushes, habitat for many insects.  A community orchard is being created in the western  section. The aim is to grow native varieties of apples, pears and other soft fruits, as well as filberts and two walnut trees.

It is said that a cannon ball found in the moat of nearby Bagworth Hall was fired from Manor Farm during the Civil War.
