Manor Farm, Hartshorne

A 44.5ha scheme on the edge of Hartshorne with a very strong nature conservation focus.  The commercial broadleaved woodland is designed to complement and enhance the income generation from the farm enterprise as well as providing valuable habitat for declining birds such as lapwing.  Two existing woodlands, Sharpes Bottom and Ladyfields Plantation, are ecologically important, with Ladyfields having been declared a County Wildlife Site.  The existing ponds are believed to be monastic carp ponds and support a range of birds.  Wet meadows, hedges and the orchard are being managed under Countryside Stewardship for their wildlife value.

Please note that there are access restrictions to some areas during the bird nesting season and during shooting days.
