Swarbourn Meadow

Swarbourn Meadow is a 5ha nature conservation-focused scheme adjacent to the River Swarbourn in Yoxall.  It is very wet and so the focus is on the creation of wetland habitats. These include wet woodland, a wetland with marshy areas and open water.  An existing conifer plantation with limited wildlife value was felled and the new woodland planting on the site to create this wildlife haven.  An otter holt has been installed in a quiet area in the hope that they will colonise the area as they have been sighted in the Trent, into which the Swarbourn flows.  A wildlife viewing platfrom overlooks the wetland.

The site lies of the route of The National Forest Branston to Jackson's Bank long walk.
