Walkers Wood

Walkers Wood is 8.6ha of woodland and meadow created in 2003/3 next to Limby Hall Lane near Swannington.  It is made up of two discrete parcels of land.  The woodland consists entirely of broadleaved species and includes cricket bat willow and native black poplar.  The meadow to the south, off a track from Burton Lane, has been managed for many years without any artificial fertilisers or chemicals and contains a mix of wildflower species.  The meadow is managed under Countryside Stewardship.  A wetland area in the wood is managed for its nature conservation value and new hedges add to the existing mature hedgerows around the site.
