Dunstall Estate

A 92 ha Tender Scheme on the Dunstall Estate (which also includes Douglas' Wood) on the edge of Barton under Needwood.  New woodland, existing woodland and large areas of open meadow combine to create a very varied landscape on the estate.  Most of the new planting is of broadleaves with some conifers and feature trees such as Wellingtonia.

The open grassland is managed as hay meadow and neglected field ponds have been restored to provide habitat for dragonflies and other wetland species.  Thinning in the existing woodland to remove sycamore and other invasive species will allow better hardwoods, such as oak, to develop.
