Lamont Wood

A 20ha Tender Scheme winner (in 2002 and 2003) adjacent to Foremark Reservoir with good views across to the Trent and Derby hills.  The woodland combines the production of high quality timber, new access and recreation opportunities and nature conservation adjacent to the existing facilities offered at the Reservoir.

A wildflower meadow and picnic area has been created on the site of a Second World War artefact, and an area of acid grassland left on the edge of the wood.  New hedgerows have been planted and an existing pond cleaned out to provide wildlife habitats.

Recreation facilities include a horse gallop around the outer perimeter and a mountain bike course. A permissive bridle and footpath links the site to nearby Scaddows Lane woodland.

Car parking and toilets are available at Foremark Reservoir.
