Park Farm, Ibstock

Park Farm is a 32ha site planted in 2002 on the edge of Ibstock.  Together with neighbouring woodlands, it forms part of a swathe of over 160ha of new woodland in the area.

A large part of the site is planted as traditional hazel coppice and nearly half is open grassland that is managed as traditional hay meadow.  Native black poplar have been planted adjacent to the stream and existing mature willows have been pollarded to prolong their life.  A large pond adds wetland habitat, while parkland and avenue trees have been planted under Countryside Stewardship.  Ridge and furrow remains have been left as open grassland to maintain their archaeological interest.

A permissive bridleway links the site to existing bridleways and to the network around Ibstock and adjacent new woodland sites.
