Scaddows Oak

A 1997 Tender Scheme winner for Severn Trent Water, Scaddows Oak is a 9 ha native broadleaved woodland, adjacent to Foremark Reservoir, with views across the Trent Valley.  Community involvement has been a major part of the creation of this site.  Over two succesive years, members of the public planted trees which they had grown in their own community woodland plot as a part of the National Forest 'Grow a Tree From Seed' campaign.

The meadow at the southern end of the site is managed as hay meadow under the advice of Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, which manages the adjacent Carvers Rocks Site of Special Scientific Interest.  The three-dimensional wooden interpretation sign is a distinctive and unusual feature.

Scaddows Oak is on the route of National Forest Reservoirs Walk medium walk and the Oaks & Oaklands long walk.
