Whitewood

A 24.36 ha Tender Scheme winner on the edge of Yoxall in Needwood Forest, Whitewood combines commercial forestry and sporting interests with new access.  In the middle of the site is an existing area of ancient woodland dating back to at least 1600.  Thinning has been carried out to improve access, improve ground cover and favour the better trees for timber.  A number of large standard trees are planted in crates to re-create the parkland landscape of the area.  Hedgerows along the boundary have been re-instated, bluebells  planted into woodland edges and an existing pool enlarged to improve wildlife habitat.
